The final week is school
this half term proved to be an extremely busy one with classes out at Yeo Valley
Farm, Portsmouth Historical Dockyard and the Victoria Club in Street, not to
mention the visitors from Uganda and 'Send a Cow', who spent the day with Year 5
on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Year 4 visited Portsmouth Historical Dockyard as part of their work on the Tudors. They had a fantastic time exploring some of the artifacts found on board the wreck, and had a go at a gun drill exercise for firing a Tudor Cannon. They then went on board the HMS Victory to find out about life on board a Georgian ship. They had an absolutely fantastic time. Many thanks to Mrs Gautier, Mrs O'Grady, Mrs Buckley and Mr and Mrs Warburton for coming along to help!
Also on Wednesday, Year 2
visited Willis Barn and Yeo Valley Farm to find out about organic food
production and the importance of buying food locally. They had a great time!
Whilst Year 2 and 4 were
out, Year 5 were visited by representatives of 'Send a Cow'. A few weeks ago,
Class 5 visited a farm and learned about the work that the charity does in
Uganda. They learned and performed a play in front of the rest of the school
last Friday to explain the work that the charity does in Africa, and on
Wednesday some of the recipients of the charitable work in Uganda visited the
class. They enjoyed learning first hand about some of the difficulties living in
a place with such climate vulnerabilities.
Year 6 also had a busy
week working on their Actiontrack performance. They worked alongside children
from several neighbouring schools and went to the Victoria Club in Street on
Friday to perform what they had learned.
