September 2nd - 4th 2009

We hope you all had an enjoyable summer.  The children returned today with smiles on their faces full of their holiday news.  It was a pleasure to welcome them all back to school.

We are pleased to tell you that the work on the school roof and on improving our drainage systems has been completed and we are looking forward to the school buildings remaining dry this year whatever the weather!  Mrs Tayler is also pleased with the improvements to the external area outside the reception class which means that the children will be able to use this area in all weathers.  Now that the major work has been completed we would like to repaint the play house.  If anyone is able to spare some time to help with this task then Mrs Tayler would be pleased to hear from you.

Mr John Searle, our caretaker and cleaner for the past seven years has left us to join the cleaning team at Clark’s Village.  It is closer to his home and has far more sociable hours so it is a good move for John.  Needless to say we will all miss John and the contribution he has made over the past seven years.  He has always taken part fully in school life and been happy to undertake many additional duties to support the school and the children. The children will really miss John and he has promised to return for a special assembly later this month to say a special thank you.  John and his wife Ann are keen to stay in contact with the school and will be attending events and occasions as time allows.  SCS, the company who employed John, have advertised the post and will be interviewing shortly.  Until the successful candidate takes up their post, temporary cleaners will be cleaning the school.  We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Sally Race as a new member of staff.  She will be working in the office for two mornings and five afternoons a week to support Rachel and will fulfil a number of briefs, one of which will be to be ‘front of house’ so that Rachel is able to work on her specific projects.
