West Pennard Church of England Primary School is a 7 class school set in beautiful grounds nestled between the Somerset countryside, Glastonbury Tor and St Nicholas’ Church.

Despite being in existence since 1843, we are a forward thinking school with forward thinking staff and governors. We pride ourselves on our quality of care, high aspirations and a creative curriculum invigorated through a wide range of enriching activities. We run a Breakfast Club from 7:30am daily and an After School Club until 6:00pm, as well as around 16 extra-curricular after school clubs per week, such as drama, 3D printing, sports, dance, music and many many more.

Our inclusive Christian ethos enables all of our learners to develop and grow to be life-long learners and reach their full potential – both academically and personally. Our children are kind, polite and can be relied upon to try their best. Our children are the stars!

We have a long tradition of excellence and of providing the best educational opportunities for children in our care. We maintain our independence as a maintained school, whilst ensuring that we are outward-focused and forward thinking in our approach. We are at the forefront of a development to bring together a collaborative community of schools that will work together to create local, accessible support for a partnership of schools across Somerset - The Somerset Partnership. The DfE wish schools to work together more collaboratively in their areas, and not necessarily within the structure of a MAT. This is our way to maintain our independence outside the academy system and the excellence that we offer as a school.

Browse through our website to familiarise yourselves with our school a little better. If you would like any of our information in printed form, just let us know – we’ll be happy to provide it for you.

We warmly encourage visits to our beautiful school and we urge you to come and visit us when the children are working, so that you can see first-hand the rich learning environment that our staff work so hard to create. Please contact the school office and I will be delighted to take the time to show you and your child around our beautiful school.
